WEHSA’s Contributions to the Wakefield Elementary School
With the support of its volunteers and members, WEHSA has been able to organize different fundraising events, and has made important school investments with the funds raised. For example:

- Funds the Roots of Empathy (ROE) Program at the school which was launched at the start of the 2019-2020 school year. WEHSA organized a Course for Kindness Walk-a-thon which raised over $9000 for the Program. The monies raised covered the cost of two volunteer instructors at $5550.00. Remaining funds of over $3400.00 are earmarked for covering the ongoing costs of the ROE program. For more information check out the Roots of Empathy News Blog here.
- Purchased a new sound system, including storage containers, valued at over $5000.00
- Facilitated the Astrolab as a year-end activity at a cost of $630.00.
- Bought soil for the micro forest, valued at $370.00
- Covered the installation costs for a stove in the multi-purpose room at a cost of $340.00
- Organizes school activities such as the annual holiday sale, staff appreciation, halloween dance, among others.
- Donates to community efforts from monies raised through its annual holiday sale. In 2019-2020, WEHSA donated $570.50 each to Saludos Niños and the Wakefield Community Emergency Fund.
- Organized a successful shoe drive for Saludos Niños.
- Organizes Pizza Fridays.
- Supports school communication with parents and the community through the WEHSA website.
