Meet your WEHSA Team!
Better known as WEHSA, the Wakefield Home and School Association has been around since 2017, replacing the former Parent Participating Organization (PPO).
WEHSA is your group of parent volunteers who come together to organize school events and fundraisers, as well as serving as a discussion forum for parents. Our objective is to enhance the school spirit and complete the circle between home, students and school.
As a non-profit organization, we control the funds we raise and decide how they are spent. Our regular meetings include the school principal as well as teacher representatives to ensure that funds are used in the best interest of our school and students. Our meetings are inclusive and all parents are welcome to attend.
WEHSA falls under the umbrella of the Quebec Federation of Home and School Associations (QFHSA) which supports local home and school associations, like WEHSA, in many ways. The membership fees we charge go toward paying our membership to QFHSA. The Federation supports local associations with workshops, lobbies for schools to the government concerning educational issues, provides us with liability insurance coverage, and keeps us connected as a network.
Everyone is welcome to join WEHSA as a member, whether you are a parent, guardian, grandparent, uncle or aunt, or even a sibling. However, you don’t need to be a member in order to volunteer or to get involved with us. That said, your membership is important to keep WEHSA going.
Meeting dates are announced via the school’s monthly newsletter and by email.
We look forward to volunteering with you to positively contribute to our school and students!
